            Your Professional Papers

 Every educator should have a “professional papers” file that includes records and documents relating to your employment status. Get started by finding your letter of employment and placing it in a safe place. Check off the appropriate items listed below as you file them. 

o     Your letter of employment

o     Your teaching certificate

o     Dorchester Educators’ master contract

o     Your teaching contract and any supplemental contracts

o     Records relating to retirement benefits

o     Leave records

o     College transcripts

o     NEA Liability Insurance Policy

o     Copies of your teaching schedule and assignments

o     Your school system's salary schedule and your yearly salary notice

o     Any correspondence to or from the school administration

o     Any letters of reprimand or praise

o     Resumes of any conferences with supervisors

o     All professional evaluations

o     Documentation of awards, commendations, or honors you receive

o     Records of any job-related seminars, workshops or conferences you attend

o     Letters to and from parents

o     Brief accounts of parent conferences

o     Record of any incidents which may increase your liability, such as disciplinary actions, student accidents, etc.

o     Proof of your membership in DE, MSTA, and NEA

o     School calendar

o     System policy on corporal punishment
